The Gurnee Park District, in partnership with the Village of Gurnee, is set to host its 2nd annual “Halloween Fall Fest” at Hunt Club Community Center & Park! From fall favorites such as hayrides, carnival games, and crafts, along with Halloween-themed activities like our infamous “Trick or Treat Path,” “Mad Science Slime Lab,” “glow-in-the-dark ghost busting”, and a giant pumpkin bounce house, participants of all ages will find FUN around every corner!

Explore the world of art at Gurnee Park District’s Family Art Night! Whether it’s painting, drawing, or learning something new, the entire family will have an opportunity to participate together and express their creativity! Stations will be set up in the Hunt Club Park Community Center gymnasium with different art activities geared towards all ages and abilities. A dinner of pizza, salad, and cookies will be provided during the event, along with all art supplies and materials.

Participants are encouraged to “dress for a mess,” and either bring a painting smock or apron, along with your imagination.

Get Creative 

Parents – spend a night out while we take care of the kids! Parent’s Night Out events at Gurnee Park District include an evening of fun age-appropriate activities for children ages 1 -11* such as games, crafts, sports, and more! A dinner of cheese pizza, juice, and water will be provided.

*Children 1-3 years old will have separate activities.

Santa Claus is coming to Gurnee Park District! Enjoy the magic of the season with a visit from the “Big Guy” himself while enjoying some of your favorite breakfast dishes such as pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, and other delicious options, all proudly served by the Gurnee Park District Board of Commissioners, staff, and volunteers!

During the event, children will have time to share their holiday wishes as they take pictures with Santa, so don’t forget to bring your camera to help capture these unforgettable holiday memories! At the end, each child will take home a special holiday gift, courtesy of Gurnee Park District.

*Please note: highchairs are not available. Children under 1 year of age may attend, but do not need to register. Registration is per person.

Directions/Walk Details: Mostly gravel but some paved. Mostly flat but the closer you get to Milwaukee you’ll find a bit of an incline. We’ll make a 2-mile loop by walking up to Dilleys, down to Milwaukee, and back to the park. For an added ½ mile and neat adventure we can also head over to Prairie Oaks Park then back to Betty Russell. Not much shade. Pet friendly. Restrooms available.

Join the GO Gurnee Walking Club at Marl Flat Forest Preserve (32609 N. Fish Lake Road, Round Lake, IL)!

Directions/Walk Details: You’ll have the option of doing both for a nice 3-mile walk. (to Route 120 & back is 1.5 miles and then to the subdivision on the East side of Wilson Road & back is another 1.5 miles). Fully paved. Some hills. Pets allowed.

Join the GO Gurnee Walking Club at Churchill Hunt Park (6000 Westminster Lane, Gurnee, IL)!

Directions/Walk Details: We will meet at the playground (plenty of street parking) and then will take the .75-mile nature path. At the end of the path, you can simply turn around for a 1.5 mile walk or you can follow us through the neighborhood to complete a 1.75 loop. Gravel path and 90% shaded on the path. Sidewalks and almost no shade in the neighborhood. Gently rolling hills. Pets allowed. Limited parking with overflow on the street.

MONTHLY MIXER – 7/12

Wear your red, white & blue to our “America the Beautiful” celebration. The afternoon begins with a lunch of ham sandwiches on croissant rolls with Swiss cheese, lettuce & tomato, pasta salad, and chips and dessert. Then sit back as we listen to the melodies of America from NY to LA and every stop in between plus patriotic favorites sung by “Ludy & his Lady”.

COPS & BOBBERS – 7/31

Grab your fishing poles – we’re teaming up with our favorite local heroes from the Gurnee Police Department for our FREE Cops & Bobbers Fishing Event!

Officers and Gurnee Park District staff will be onsite throughout the event to help reel in the biggest catch, create fun crafts, announce raffles, and MORE!

Please note: while we will provide a limited number of fishing poles and bait on a first-come, first-served basis, we encourage you to bring your favorite rod to ensure everyone gets a chance to participate in the fun.

This event is designed with young anglers in mind, welcoming children ages 5 -15 years old.

*Prizes will be awarded for the biggest, smallest, and most fish caught in each age group.
Age groups include: ages 5-8, 9-11, & 12-15.
