Directions/Walk Details: The basic circumnavigation is roughly 2 miles. 100% paved with some hills. Pets allowed. Heather Ridge is at Milwaukee and Route 120. We’ll meet in the parking lot at the entrance nearest to Gavin’s Corner. Follow the signs to the golf course but look for the Heather Ridge Woods Nature Path sign & Tiny Free Lending Library. We’ll be starting on the newly revamped nature trail/tiny lending library.

Directions/Walk Details: Park behind the Avon Township offices. We’ll then walk around Cranberry Lake which is a 1 mile woodchip trail. Mostly flat. Pets welcome. No restrooms. Some shade.

Join the GO Gurnee Walking Club at Independence Grove DPRT North (16400 Buckley Road, Libertyville)!

Directions/Walk Details: We’ll be doing something different this time. We will walk the Des Plaines River Trail NORTH towards Route 120 (and see but will then walk the DPRT. Once you enter Independence Grove go to the LEFT and head all the way to the end for parking. Note, they may check your ID at the gate. Entry is free for Lake County residents but you will need your ID to show you live in Lake County. Pets are not allowed at Independence Grove but they are allowed on the Des Plaines River Trail. Much of the trail will be protected by trees. The trail is gravel.

Directions/Walk Details: 2 trails, one is 1.7 miles and the other is 1 mile for a nice 2.5-mile walk. Crushed gravel. Protected from the wind by trees. When you enter the preserve, go to the 1st parking lot on the RIGHT. We will meet in the 1st parking lot you encounter. Note this is the EAST side and not the usual walk we take around the lake. Pets allowed.

Directions/Walk Details: Fairly level crushed gravel 3-mile looping path. Not much shade. Pets welcome. Overflow parking 1 block East in the baseball complex with direct access to the trail.

Directions/Walk Details: Street Parking only. There is a nice ½ mile woodchip nature trail in the woods. From there we can add on another mile by walking around the block. Woods may be buggy. Pets allowed. No bathrooms.

Directions/Walk Details: Two connecting loops totaling 3.5 miles. Crushed gravel. Mostly flat but there are a few gently rolling hills. There is an additional 1-mile side loop (woodchip base) which is quite hilly and extremely beautiful for those wanting a bit more of a challenge. It goes down into a ravine and back up again. Outhouse by the parking lot. Some shade. Pets allowed.

Join the GO Gurnee Walking Club at Independence Grove – Casey Trail/Dog Park (16400 Buckley Road, Libertyville)!

Directions/Walk Details: We’ll be doing something different this time. We will walk the Des Plaines River Trail WEST towards Milwaukee Avenue. We’ll meet in the usual picnic shelter of Independence Grove but will then walk the DPRT. Once you enter Independence Grove go to the LEFT and head all the way to the end for parking. Note, they may check your ID at the gate. Entry is free for Lake County residents but you will need your ID to show you live in Lake County. Pets are not allowed at Independence Grove but they ARE allowed on the Des Plaines River Trail. Much of the trail will be protected from the wind by trees. Some hills but mostly flat. Gravel trail. Bathrooms near the parking lot, only 2 or 3 benches along the trail. 1 mile to Milwaukee and back or 4.3 miles to the long bridge and back.
