Directions/Walk Details: This is at the corner of Route 41 & Wadsworth. The parking with access to the Des Plaines River Trail is behind The Shanty and is accessed off of Wadsworth Road. Hard-packed gravel. Some shade. We’ll head SOUTH on the DPRT. One loop is 1.5 miles and there is a longer loop that runs along the river and is closer to 2.5 miles. Mostly flat. Pets welcome. Port-a-pottie by the parking lot.

Directions/Walk Details: 2-mile paved path goes around a beautiful lake (an additional 1-mile gravel path available for a very nice 3-mile walk). Limited shade. Pets welcome. Restrooms available. Park by playground (unless full then use the other lot).
Directions/Walk Details: The parking lot is right across the street from this address and next to the Blue Park. Overflow parking is on the street. Partly shaded. Paved path. A 2-mile route along Almond Road and through a neighborhood. For an extra mile we’ll walk through Aberdare for 3 miles total. Pet friendly. No restrooms.
Directions/Walk Details: A beautiful 1.8-mile trail around Butler Lake. Many connected trails on the other side of Lake Street to make it a longer walk. Half wood chips, half paved. Mostly flat. May be buggy. 50% shaded. Pets allowed. No restrooms. Additional parking by the fishing pier just East.
Directions/Walk Details: We will meet in the parking lot of the University Center. It is a stand-alone building on the Eastern side of the property closer to Washington Street. The 2.5-mile path is paved and goes around the perimeter of the school. Some shaded areas with some areas out in the open. Restrooms are open in the college. Pets allowed.
Directions/Walk Details: This walk includes a 2 mile loop that is 100% paved. Some small hills. Pets allowed. There are no restrooms available. Heather Ridge is at Milwaukee and Route 120. We’ll meet in the parking lot at the entrance nearest to Gavin’s Corner. Follow the signs to the golf course and look for the “Heather Ridge Wood Nature Path” sign and “Tiny Free Lending Library.”
Directions/Walk Details: We will meet at University Park (3858 University Avenue) in Gurnee. Note: University Park has 2 parking lots. The main is on University and the other is on Ellis with overflow on the street. Partial gravel trail & partially paved paths. Part is shaded. A .8-mile trail loop plus another 1.74-mile neighborhood loop for a nice 2.5-mile walk. Pets allowed. No restrooms.
Directions/Walk Details: There are 2 trails – one is 1.7 miles and the other is 1 mile for a nice 2.5-mile walk. Crushed gravel. Protected from the wind by trees. When you enter the preserve, go to the 1st parking lot on the RIGHT. We will meet there. Note this is the EAST side and not the usual walk around the lake. Pets allowed. Outhouse by the parking lot.
