General Information

The Gurnee Park District offers a variety of aquatic classes and opportunities during the summer at the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center and year round at both Warren Township High School – O’Plaine Campus and the Gages Lake Pool indoor pools

What ever your age, aquatics have endless benefits.

  • Swimming combines nature, health, fitness, mental clarity and that pure bliss feeling of lying on your back floating.

  • It is one of the most popular sports in world. Unlike other sports, swimming is a life skill that is taught, first, to ensure safety and, secondly, for sports and competition purposes.

  • Swimming works your whole body, improving cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength, endurance, posture, and flexibility all at the same time.

  • Without overworking the heart it improves the body's use of oxygen and increases lung function. It is also recognized as a terrific low impact exercise for those who don't like the effects of jogging on their knees, because while in water you are non-weight bearing.

  • Swimming is a healthy activity that can be continued for a lifetime. The health benefits swimming offers are worth the effort it takes to get to the swimming pool, get into your swimsuit, and then get into the pool and swim.
