CARE

CARE offers quality activities and supervision for children before and after school. The program is fun and recreation based to counterbalance the day’s educational activities. Children have the opportunity to express themselves through a variety of activities that include games, crafts and sports as well as science, outdoor play and quiet time for reading and homework. CARE Provides Children with:

Morning CARE Activities:

  • Time to eat breakfast (brought from home)

Days Off School Program Dates

Our CARE program follows District 50 and 56 school calendars. On non-school days the Gurnee Park District offers a Days Off School Program that includes a special action day of games, sports, crafts, field trip or special entertainment. View all upcoming Days Off School Programs by Clicking Here.

Transportation

Parents are responsible for contacting their school’s transportation office for busing arrangements.

Early Release / No School Days

Early release days are included in the monthly fee for after school CARE participants. Days Off School Programs are provided on non-school days for an additional fee.

Part Time Options for CARE

We offer three days a week part time CARE options. Parents are able to customize and pick their child’s consistent three-day schedule that best fits their needs. Inclusion with WSRA Special Recreation

Warren Special Recreation Association (WSRA) and its member districts, believe that all participants should be provided with leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level of ability. Inclusion helps provide a smooth transition from WSRA to a member Park District/Township program.  If you are interested in Park District/Township programming and desire inclusion assistance, contact the WSRA office at 847-244-6619.

CARE Locations

This program is offered at locations that work with your school district and follow their school year calendar.

District 50

CARE is available for District 50 kindergarten-5th grade students. Students are able to participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities before and after school. 

CARE for Woodland School District students is provided at Hunt Club Park Community Center. 

This program follows Woodland's School District calendar. 

Hours:

  • Morning CARE: 6:30 am - bus pick up time
  • Afternoon CARE: School dismissal - 6:00 pm

District 56

CARE is available for District 56 kindergarten-8th grade students. Students are able to participate in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities before and after school. 
CARE before school for District 56 students is provided at Viking Park Community Center and is available for kindergarten to fifth graders.

CARE after school is provided at River Trail School and Spaulding School. For those students who attend Prairie Trail School and Viking Middle School, your child will be bussed to River Trail School for kindergarten through eighth grade After School CARE. 

This program follows the District 56 school calendar.

  • Morning CARE: 6:30am - bus pick up time
  • Afternoon CARE: School dismissal - 6:00 pm

CARE Calendars

CARE Payment Policy

A minimum of one month's payment is due at the time of registration. Payments are broken into nine equal monthly installments throughout the entire school year.

  • No prorated rates will be provided for students starting in the middle of or at the end of the month.
  • The monthly payment is due on the 15th of the previous month (for example: October's payment is due on September 15).
  • A $10.00 late fee will be charged for payments not received by the 15th of each month. Continual late payments may be a cause for dismissal from the program.
  • If we do not receive payment by the 1st of the following month, your child may not attend CARE until the payment is received.
  • Tuition is based on the total number of school days divided into nine equal monthly installments.
  • To withdraw from the program, please contact Sabrina Hinkens at 847-599-3746.

Payment arrangements can be made with other financial aid by a third party, such as the State, is available to the participant. Even in these cases, the participant's portion, if any, must be paid in full prior to the start date of the program. 

Payments can be made monthly through Automatic Withdrawal by completing an EFT/Credit Card Authorization Form and submitting it along with a voided check (if using EFT) to the Registration Office.

Refund Policy

If you withdraw your registration before the start of the program, a $50.00 service charge will be kept for CARE in the afternoon and a $30.00 service charge will be kept for CARE in the morning.

Once the program has started, prorated fees will not be given for partial month's attendance or withdrawal.
