Spring Into Nature This Season

Blog author Executive Director, Susie Kuruvilla, CPA, CPRP

This past fall, our Parks Team planted thousands of tulip bulbs at each of our facilities. I am eager to see these first signs of spring, as they always bring a sense of excitement of what's to come here at Gurnee Park District. With that said, I am thrilled to share with you some of our offerings that can help you "spring" into nature this season!

If you enjoy cultivating your own flowers, organic vegetables or herbs, try renting one of our Garden Plots this spring! Garden plot reservations are now open, with the growing season taking place May 1-November 15 at O'Plaine Park.

You can also stay active outdoors this spring with Go Gurnee! Join our FREE Go Gurnee Walking Club, which hosts weekly walks each Saturday morning at various locations within Lake County. Having explored miles and miles of twisting and turning pathways, our Walking Club proves that getting outside can be a fun way to GO this spring!

Another way to get outside this season is to visit one of our many parks! Our Parks Team works diligently throughout the year to ensure that each park is up to the highest safety standards, whether it's maintaining walking trails, turfs, play equipment or even our soccer fields. Soon, our parks will once again be bustling with our spring soccer program. Register is open; practices start the week of April 6th!

Finally, don't forget that in addition to our return to nature, spring is also a time to start preparing for summer. Get ready for the hot days of summer by purchasing your family's Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center passes early and at discounted rates! Or, keep your little ones active by registering them for one of our many amazing outdoor summer camps!

I look forward to seeing everyone out and about this season! As always, if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
