Have a Healthy Heart

February is heart health month. According to The Heart Foundation, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. There are many ways to reduce your risks and live a heart healthy life! Here are a few ways!

Stay Active

All it takes is 30 minutes, 5 days a week. Challenge yourself to take a walk during lunch, get to the gym more, use the stairs rather than an elevator or park a bit further away from the mall entrance! Want to take it further? Or need support? Join the free GO Gurnee Walking Club to stay active, involved and motivated!

Spend time with loved ones

When feeling stressed or tired from a long day, reach out to those you can count on most. Family, friends and quality time can be the best medicine. Consider trying something new together or scheduling a family game night to re-engage and take your mind away from day to day stress. Plenty of ways to get out in Gurnee to enjoy a round of golf, open gym, a game of pickleball or an open swim.

Use fresh food to serve up hearty meals

American Heart Association shares a variety of meal options to improve heart health and prevent risks. From fish to fresh fruit, salads to hearty meat options, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Don't leave your children out when preparing meals! Have them help! They can also learn through a variety of cooking classes!

From fitness to wellness and everything in between, be sure to keep your heart top of mind. Give it the love it deserves throughout February and beyond.
