Exceptional Workplace Award Winner

Illinois Park and Recreation Association awarded Gurnee Park District, Exceptional Workplace Award.

"We're proud of this award and continue to strive to adapt to the ever changing needs of our employees and our customers," shared Scott Crowe CPRE, Director of Recreation.

Winners were selected by meeting a certain percentage of 50 criteria ranging from overall employee engagement, achieving certifications, employee recognition programs, safety procedures and training as well as an emphasis on diversity, wellness programs and active learning opportunities. There is a great amount of pride relating to Gurnee Park District's wellness committee, employee engagement as well as safety and training procedures.

Gurnee Park District Wellness Committee

Committee success made healthy living accessible. From encouraging and providing healthy living activities, access to public parks, health seminars and nutrition education resources, employees accomplish their wellness goals through a variety of resources.

Employee Engagement

Involvement and relationships with other organizations in the Gurnee community also provide Gurnee Park District employees opportunities to actively engage, learn and give back. The GO program and walking club continues success with support from Lake County Health Department and Waukegan Park District. In addition, many staff members choose to give back by volunteering at special events or by coaching youth athletic teams.

Safety and Training Procedures

Volunteers, part-time and full time staff receive safety training. Safety is key when communicating with coaches, camp counselors, aquatics staff, parks team and more to ensure Gurnee Park District continues to provide safe, fun and innovative programming at every level.

Gurnee Park District Board Members, volunteers, part time and full time staff are very deserving of this award as they continue to work hard, collaborate and provide the best experience possible for customers.
