GO Gurnee - Winter Wellness Walk

Thursday, December 2, 2021, 04:45 pm - 05:30 pm
Special Events
Join us for a FREE 1-mile "Winter Wellness Walk" at Esper Peterson Park (Old Grand Avenue and Kilbourne Avenue) on Thursday, December 2 (4:45-5:30pm)!

With daylight savings time making it darker much earlier, there may be days when you will be walking in the dark. This is a great time to talk about safety while walking at night as well as take a walk together! Every participant will receive a light up blinking bracelet that allows you to be seen well in the dark! In addition, those who bring 2 or more non-perishable food items to be donated to the Warren Township Food Pantry & the Northern Illinois Food Bank will receive safety shoe lights!

If you are unable to attend the walk, but want to help out the food pantry, you can drop of your non-perishable donations at Viking Park Community Center (4374 Old Grand Avenue) Monday - Friday beginning December 6th (between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm). Those who drop off donations will receive safety shoe lights (while supplies last)!

Parking/Walk Details: Parking will be available at Viking Park and Viking Middle School. The group will meet at the gazebo in Esper Peterson Park.

Register to be a part of the "Winter Wellness Walk"

After the walk, head on over to Welton Plaza on Old Grand Avenue for the Holiday Lights event, co-hosted by Gurnee Park District, the Village of Gurnee, and the Village of Gurnee Chamber of Commerce. The Holiday Lights event will take place from 5:30-7:30pm and will include many family friendly activities such as caroling, light displays, food trucks, s'mores by the fire, visits with Santa, petting zoo, and MORE! This event is free to the public.
