Warren Special Recreation Association (WSRA) is a partnership of Gurnee, Grandwood Park, and Wildwood park districts; and Warren Township. New in 2012, WSRA moved to the new location, 100 S. Greenleaf St., in Gurnee. The Greenleaf location will handle all of the administrative responsibilities and some programs of WSRA. Various programs and summer day camps will continue to be held at the WSRA building at Warren Township Center, 17801 W. Washington St. in Gurnee.

What Does WSRA Do?

WSRA is dedicated to providing recreational opportunities to people of all ages and various disabilities. From Special Olympics Sports to social clubs and arts and crafts; our programs provide opportunities not only for recreation but fitness, independence, social skills, behavior development, and many other life skills. Often goals are met without even realizing it because the participants have so much fun.

What Types of Programs Do We Offer?

WSRA offers a range of programs for everyone! From preschoolers to adults; there is something for you.

• Ages 3-6: Swim Lessons, Music & Socialization, Arts & Crafts
• Youth: After School and Days Off Programming, Swim Lessons, Community Outings, and Seasonal Camps
• Teens: After School Programming, Social Clubs, Special Olympics, Seasonal Camps and Art Programs
• Adults: Day Program, Social Clubs, Special Olympics, Movie Trips, Dining & Exercise Programs as well as Special Events.

Inclusion

WSRA and its member districts believe that all participants should be provided with leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level of ability. WSRA therefore offers an inclusion option to provide a smooth transition from WSRA to a member Park District/Township program. If you are interested in a Park District/Township program and desire inclusion assistance, contact the WSRA office at 847 244-6619.

Summer Day Camp Open House

Join WSRA on June 5th for a Summer Camp Open House. Participants and their families will have the opportunity to meet and share information with WSRA camp staff in a fun and easy environment. This will be held at WSRA, Warren Township Center from 6-8pm. Please RSVP by Friday, June 1st.

Summer Day Camp

Who is ready for another great summer at WSRA? Once again we will be offering a summer full of fun, play and laughter. Camp runs Monday, June 11 through Friday, August 3. Pre-Camp Fun will be offered from Monday, June 4 - Friday, June 8. We plan on keeping your camper busy with many different games, crafts, water play and field trips.
