Half Day Camps

Half Day camps offer campers entering Kindergarten through 6th grade an action-packed summer and is designed to expose both beginner and experienced campers to new adventures and experiences. Activities include nature, sports, games, crafts, cookouts, hikes, swimming, one field trip per session and the great outdoors. The Gurnee Park District offers a variety of half day opportunities including:

Half Day Voyager Camp - This action-packed camp is for children entering Kindergarten through 6th grade. This camp is designed to expose both beginner and experienced campers to new adventures and experiences. Activities include nature, sports, games, crafts, cookouts, swimming, field trips and the great outdoors.

Camp OASIS - This afternoon camp is designed for children attending District 50 Summer Wonders. Campers will enjoy an afternoon of games, sports, nature, field trips, swimming, crafts, special events and the great outdoors. Parents must contact Woodland Transportation and pay the transportation fee in order to bus their child from school to camp.

Full Day CampsCamp Friends

Full Day camps offer campers a full day experience. Each camp offers age specific activities guaranteed to transport your child into a world of imagination and discovery. At camp your child will meet new friends, develop social skills, build confidence and independence as well as gain a sense of responsibility. Full Day Camps include:

Discovery Camp - Designed for campers entering Kindergarten and 1st grade and includes field trips, themed weeks, special events, cookouts, swimming, crafts, games and more! Staff to camper ratio is 1:8.

Adventure Camp - Designed for campers entering 2nd through 5th grade is geared towards our older campers who enjoy field trips, cookouts, swimming, sports, games, crafts and more! Staff to camper ratio is 1:10

Teen Camp - Designed for preteens entering 6th through 8th grade who are looking for new and exciting things to do this summer. Campers will swim twice a week and go on two field trips each week.

Outdoor Survivor Camp - Designed for campers entering 1st through 8th grade who enjoy outdoor challenges like hiking, biking, canoeing, rock climbing, fire safety, outdoor survival skills and more!

Junior Counselor Camp - Designed for campers entering 9th and 10th grade interested in becoming a future counselor.

Camp Creations - This three week camp is for children in 4th-6th grade.  Each week, campers will focus on a different art medium such as painting, drawing, or sculpture.  Campers will learn different techniques as to how to make their own masterpieces and develop their own individual artistic style.

Nature Camp - This three week camp is for children in 1st-3rd grade who love exploring and learning about the outdoors.  Each week will be broken into different learning topics such as animal tracking and identification, life cycles, tree and plant identification, geo tracking, and many more nature discoveries.

Aquatic Adventure Camp - This three week camp, located at Hunt Club Park, is specifically designed for those children entering into grades 4th-6th who love the fun of water!  The duration of this camp will encompass the many aspects of water play, as well daily swimming at different aquatic facilities.

Sports Camp - This co-ed camp will focus on specific sports as well as engage the children in other sports and games along the way. Campers will increase their knowledge and learn the basic skills of team sports, while improving their stamina and endurance. This camp also stresses the importance of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship. Our staff brings a high level of athletic ability, knowledge and enthusiasm to this camp. Campers must be prepared each day to be physically active. Campers will enjoy weekly swimming and one field trip per session.

Step Into Sports Camp - This co-ed camp will focus on learning the fundamentals of sports through games and activities. Each session is broken into specific sport skills which will help improve the camper’s abilities. Our staff brings a high level of knowledge and enthusiasm to this camp. Campers will enjoy weekly swimming and one field trip per session.

Enrichment Camps

Summer Enrichment Camps are great for participants who are interested in a camp atmosphere that offers a concentration in a specific interest like science, art, culinary, and dance/theater. Some of the camps offered include:

Art Exploration: Projects will be hands on and will include painting, paper crafts and more!

Cooking Camp: Children will learn basic cooking techniques and skills. Each day, campers will cook a new dish themselves and create a recipe book.

Messy Mania Camp: Campers will participate in messy activities that may include making slime/goo, splatter painting, shaving cream, and much more. Come dressed to make a mess.

Science Camp: Children will be introduced to the mysteries of science through hands-on interactive experiments. We will explore physics, chemistry, earth science and more.
