Ballet 2/3 (14-15 years old - one year of ballet experience required)

This class is designed to prepare dancers for the study of pointe work and emphasizes strength exercises for students' legs and feet. For more information and to register, click here.

Above the Barre (14-16 years old with teacher recommendation)

WTHS Intramural Basketball Program

In cooperation with Warren Township High School, Gurnee Park District offers intramural basketball for students who attend Warren High School. The league runs from December to February.  All games are played at the O'Plaine campus main gym on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings.

Team Fee: $200.00 (maximum of 10 players per team)
Please note: All participants must be a current WTHS student in good standing to play.

Junior Lifeguard (12-14 yrs. old)

This water safety training class includes basic rescue techniques, CPR and First-Aid Skills. Participants will improve their physical condition, acquire customer service skills, and will apprentice with current lifeguards. This class is offered year-round except for the spring. Illinois Shotokan Karate Club (ISKC)

This karate program offers strength training with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Increase your coordination, agility and poise as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. Want to learn more and register? Click here.

Tae Kwon Do

Join Gurnee Park District and Equa Do Martial Arts to acquire confidence and self-esteem by learning the art of mind-body control and self-defence. Traditional execution of form is taught alongside sparring skills. Want to learn more and register for the class? Click here.

Judo

Join Gurnee Park District and Gurnee Judo Club to perfect your strength and coordination in this Olympic and Paralympic grappling sport. Judo is an excellent cross-training activity for wrestlers. Braveway

Learn to anticipate and avoid potentially dangerous situations and discover how to defend yourself from a physical attacker. You'll work with a partner to learn techniques against (un)armed, single and multiple aggressors. This is one of the easiest and most effective self-defense classes! Painting: Beginner - Advanced Artists

This class, for beginners - advanced artists, introduces composition, color theory and techniques needed to successfully complete a painting. Individual instruction will be given. For more information and to register, click here.

Private Guitar Lessons

Students will learn parts of the guitar, notes on the fret board, how to tune their guitar as well as learn how to play and strum chords and scales. All these skills are essential to playing along with songs or jamming with friends. Click here to register today!

Private and Semi-Private Swim Instruction (all ages)

Private lessons are provided with a 1:1 student/instructor ratio while semi-private lessons are taught with a 2:1 student/instructor ratio. Private lessons are 30 minutes and will be personally adjusted to the needs of the student. Semi-private lessons are 30 minutes and will be taught following the Learn to Swim criteria. Adult Swim Instruction (16 yrs. old and up)

This class is open to all levels of ability from the fearful to the more advanced swimmer. Everyone will work at their own level and will learn personal safety skills and strokes. We offer group classes or private instruction. Click here to register today!

Swim Instructor Internship (12-14 yrs. old)

Interns receive supervised, hands-on on experience while assisting with swim lessons. Click here to register today!

Swim and Stroke Clinic (8-14 yrs. old)

Participants will focus on learning proper competitive swimming strokes, turns, starts, and lap swim etiquette. Though participation in this program will increase the participants swimming ability, it does not guarantee then a spot on the Blue Devil Swim Club or any other competitive swim team. Blue Devil Swim Club (BDSC)

BDSC is an affiliate of the Gurnee Park District. Swimmers must be between 6 and 19 years old and must be able to swim both freestyle (with rhythmic breathing) and backstroke one length of the pool without stopping. Daily year-round practice emphasizes stroke mechanics, starts, turns, training and nutrition. Swimmers are encouraged to compete in various swim meets.
