Pickleball

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis for all ages and athletic abilities. Equipment will be provided at no charge. Pickleball is easy to learn, so please join us and experience this great new game. Dates and times are subject to change. This activity is free for all Gurnee Park District Fitness Members and is $5.00/day for all other participants. Click here for the current schedule at our two great locations.

Adult Volleyball League

Outdoor recreational volleyball leagues offered at the Hunt Club Park Aquatic Center. We offer a Thursday night women's league and a Sunday night co-ed league. Participants need to be 19 years and up to participate. Coming Summer 2017

The park district is offering Sunday morning soccer for adults. Teams will be made up of preregistered participants on smaller sized soccer field at Viking Park. This program is for those soccer players who still enjoy playing soccer, but in a less non-competitive league atmosphere.

Adult Basketball

Join Gurnee Park District for adult open basketball at Woodland Middle School. This program is offered November—April each year. Click here for more information.

Adult Golf

These classes are the perfect fit for any adult looking to learn how to play golf. The focus will be on club selection, chipping, pitching, putting, driving and using course management. Classes meet four times and for one-hour. The program ends with a Friday two-hour practice round on the course. The ratio will not exceed 8:1 to maximize the learning potential of each individual. Exceptions will be made for playing clinics. All classes are contracted through Bittersweet Golf Course. Click here to learn more and to register.

Adult Tennis

There are several levels of adult instructional tennis programs:

  • Beginner: never played or played a little
  • Advanced Beginner/Intermediate (AB/I): can rally a little and have the basics of topspin, serve and some knowledge of rules and scoring.

Women

Couples, Women’s and Co-ed Volleyball Programs (Non-League)

Come out and enjoy a fun sport with your friends, meet other couples and enjoy informal volleyball games. The emphasis is on fun and recreational play in a supervised setting. Guitar Lessons—Group and Private Lessons

Are you looking for a fun way to learn how to play guitar? Sign up for our private lessons. Lessons are 30 minutes and will be personally adjusted to the needs of the student. Click here to learn more about our guitar classes.

Painting

This class, for beginning to advanced artists, introduces composition, color theory, and  techniques needed to successfully complete a painting. Individual instruction will be given. Click here to learn more about our painting programs.

Dance

Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore to stay healthy. Dance is a great way to burn calories, strengthen your bones and provides a great cardiovascular workout. Viking Park Singers

Love to sing? Want to have fun singing with a great bunch of people at a “recreational pace?” Then check out the Viking Park Singers! Gurnee Days Trail Run
(10k and 2 Mile Fun Run)

All ages welcome! Join us for a community race that utilizes the Des Plaines River trail limestone path system. A fast and flat course certified by USATF. Click here to learn more about the race.

Monthly Mixers

Join your friends at our popular monthly luncheons. Enjoy a catered meal and professional entertainment every month. Register early as space is limited.

Senior Fit

This class will guide you through a series of exercises that will help increase mobility and flexibility. Each class introduces a warm-up, stretching, strength exercises as well as some cardio and a cool-down to help relieve the muscles. Register now for Senior Fit.
