Volunteer Opportunities

Enhance your life while helping others at the Gurnee Park District. Those who are 12 years and older are encouraged to get involved by volunteering for programs or special events. Special Events Assistants...The Gurnee Park District needs volunteers to serve in many capacities during special events. You may volunteer to decorate, help with food preparation, assist with crafts, and games or welcome people at the door Please call Linda Brogren at 599-3755.

Athletic Coaches...Be a role model for the youth in our community by volunteering to coach a team for the Gurnee Park District. Experience in the sport is not necessary. Description
Serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Park District. Responsible for leading, organizing, providing and maintaining the District's financial reporting systems, financial statements, annual Budget and Appropriation, Tax Levy, general finance and accounting activity, Information Technology Systems, risk management activities, customer service/registration, and human resources. Requires knowledge of all facets of municipal financial administration and accounting; strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive and effective working relationships with Board, staff and the public; strong organizational and research skills; and excellent communications and computer skills.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.Minimum of three years of progressively responsible administrative and management experience in a governmental accounting or finance position. An MBA or CPA attainment is desired.

Full-time, salaried position

Compensation
Full Salary Range - $70,695 - $106,042. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. Includes an excellent benefit package.

Rental Building Attendant

If you are responsible and customer service oriented, looking for 10 hours + of extra work a month on weekends, and like working in a fun and exciting atmosphere, Gurnee Park District has a job opportunity for you! The Gurnee Park District is currently seeking individuals to work as a Rental Building Attendant in our Viking Park Dance Hall during our clients' momentous events such as weddings, showers, birthday parties, anniversaries and more!

Description
Building Attendant duties are to maintain the integrity and safety of Gurnee Park District property and guests, supervision & customer service during rental events and basic maintenance duties. This position is slow paced during decoration & event time with a fast pace for the last two hours during cleanup time.

Hours
This is a part time position with the requirement of working at least one event per month by voluntarily signing up for the event(s) of their choice. Hours are Saturdays & Sundays with start and end times ranging between the hours of 10am - 2am on Saturdays and 10am - 11pm on Sundays. An average shift is 4pm - 1am with two building attendants working together.

Qualifications
Building Attendants must be 21 years of age, with experience in customer service and be able to enforce regulations in a firm, but diplomatic manner. Must also be trained or willing to be trained in First Aid & CPR. Must possess the physical ability to carry out assigned tasks which include lifting 60 lbs.

Compensation

The Gurnee Park District is looking for responsible, hard-working and enthusiastic individuals interested in joining our award-winning Aquatic Team. We will be expanding our indoor programs this fall and are now taking applications for Lifeguards and various Aquatic Program Instructors. Group Exercise Instructor

Qualifications
Must be 18 years or older, possess knowledge of all areas of aerobic fitness. Must be certified through a nationally accredited association such as A.F.A.A., A.C.E., I.D.E.A., I.F.P.A., or other approved certifications. Must have the ability to instruct class using proper beats, music cues and alternative movements. Candidate must be able to instruct classes of varying ages, abilities and fitness needs. Ability to instruct classes using safe physical principles and technicques.

Must have good communication and leadership skills. Applicant should also possess excellent customer service skills. Ideal candidate will have flexible hours, variety of experiences and the ability to teach at different ability levels.

LOOKING FOR INSTRUCTORS WITH EXPERIENCE TEACHING CARDIO FORMATS, KICKBOXING, STRENGTH AND BODYPUMP. YOGA/PILATES OR STEP-ONLY INSTRUCTORS NEED NOT APPLY.

Duties
Responsible for overall instruction and development of the Group Exercise class. Duties include the design of class structure, conducting classes, and monitoring the safety and enjoyment of participants.

Must attend staff trainings, orientations and meetings.

Pay Range
$18 - $28 per class (wage based on 60 minute class)
