According to the Warren Township Historical Society the Viking Park Dance Hall has been host to community events and private parties since shortly after 1911. Gurnee Park District has updated the Dance Hall in the years since it was acquired in 1968. Historical atmosphere combined with modern amenities such as a NSF approved kitchen, wet bar, heat and air conditioning are sure to be the perfect compliment to your event!
Accommodations The Dance Hall can accommodate a capacity up to 186. Every rental includes use of our banquet tables, white chairs, coffee urns, coffee carafes, and water pitchers, at no additional charge. Liquor may be served or sold with required insurance and permits. The Summer Kitchen may be rented May 1 - September 30 in conjunction with the Dance Hall to permit an outdoor wedding ceremony or if the party attendance will be over 186. The Viking Park Dance Hall is an ideal location for large or small celebrations, banquets, seminars and meetings.
Availability The Dance Hall is available Monday-Friday for luncheons, seminars or meetings during business hours, please call for availability. Friday - Saturday hours are 8:00a-12:00p with clean up done by 1:00a. Sunday hours are 8:00a-9:00p with clean up done by 10:00p. The Dance Hall is not available for rental on January 1, Easter Sunday, July 4, Gurnee Days Weekend, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, December 24, December 25, or December 31.
Reservations The dance hall may be reserved one year prior to your event. To apply, please complete an application and return it to the Gurnee Park District in person with the reservation deposit and proof of residency. Reservations will not be taken over the phone. All applications are submitted first come, first served. Submitting an application does not guarantee confirmation of a rental. Rentals will be confirmed within 48-72 hours on business days only. Applications are available online and at both community centers.
Tours Prospective renters have two options to view the Dance Hall. You may call for an appointment to view with the Rental Coordinator; however, appointments are not required to view the all. Stop in during business hours to check out the hall, kitchen and wet bar. We do ask that if there is a program in session, you come back at a later time.
