Enhance your life while helping others at the Gurnee Park District. Those who are 12 years and older are encouraged to get involved by volunteering for programs or special events. Special Events Assistant
The Gurnee Park District needs volunteers to serve in many capacities during special events. You may volunteer to decorate, help with food preparation, assist with crafts, and games or welcome people at the door Please call Linda Brogren at 599-3755.
Athletic Coaches
Be a role model for the youth in our community by volunteering to coach a team for the Gurnee Park District. Experience in the sport is not necessary. We will provide sport specific training to set you and your team up for success. Please call Matthew Vanderkamp at 599-3752 if you are interested in coaching any of our sports programs.
Employment OpportunitiesPart Time Registration Clerk/Customer ServiceScheduled hours are Wednesday evenings, 5:00pm - 9:15pm; Saturday afternoons 12noon - 5:15pm (until 7pm Oct - March); and Sunday afternoons 12noon to 5:15pm. Must also be available to work Monday - Friday during the day on an as-needed basis to fill in for staff vacations, meetings, holidays, etc. Flexibility is a must for this position. This is a permanent year round position. Seasonal applicants need not apply. Duties include greeting customers, processing passes and registrations on the computer, occasionally overseeing open gym activities, and various other tasks that may arise. Must possess the ability to consistently communicate in a friendly fashion with employees and patrons both in person and on the telephone. Must consistently demonstrate good public relations and tact. Patience is also a character trait which must be demonstrated in a continuous manner when working with the public. Prior customer service experience is required. Proficiency in computer data entry and work processing (minimum 50 wpm), plus knowledge of business machines is required. $10.00 - $11.00 per hour depending on experience.

Youth Soccer Officials - Spring & Fall 2012Qualifications: Applicant must be at least 14 years of age. A minimum of a Grade 8 (Entry Level) soccer referee certification or higher is required. A Youth Soccer Official must pass all background checks and be suitable for job requirements. Candidates should be dependable, energetic, and flexible and have STRONG leadership skills. Candidate must have or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification. Duties: Under the Direct Supervision of the Youth Athletic Supervisor & Coordinator, a Youth Soccer Official will be responsible for knowing the league rules for the many age levels as well as maintaining flow and control of the game. The Youth Soccer Official must also be able to communicate effectively via email and phone. Additional Responsibilities: Required to attend a mandatory referee meeting prior to the season at the Hunt Club Community Center. Time and date of meeting is T.B.D. The official will need to supply own whistle, stopwatch and a black or red soccer official's shirt. Hours: Saturdays during the months of April - June (Spring Season) and/or August - October (Fall Season) from 9am - 4pm. Game Wage: $18 - $26 per game - depending on age level. Group Exercise Instructor
Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older, possess knowledge of all areas of aerobic fitness. Must be certified through a nationally accredited association such as A.F.A.A., A.C.E., I.D.E.A., I.F.P.A., or other approved certifications. Must have the ability to instruct class using proper beats, music cues and alternative movements. Candidate must be able to instruct classes of varying ages, abilities and fitness needs. Ability to instruct classes using safe physical principles and techniques. Must have good communication and leadership skills. Applicant should also possess excellent customer service skills. Ideal candidate will have flexible hours, variety of experiences and the ability to teach at different ability levels.
LOOKING FOR INSTRUCTORS WITH EXPERIENCE TEACHING CARDIO FORMATS, KICKBOXING, STRENGTH AND BODYPUMP. YOGA/PILATES OR STEP-ONLY INSTRUCTORS NEED NOT APPLY.
Duties: Responsible for overall instruction and development of the Group Exercise class. Duties include the design of class structure, conducting classes, and monitoring the safety and enjoyment of participants. Must attend staff trainings, orientations and meetings.
Pay Range: $18 - $28 per class (wage based on 60 minute class)

Blue Devils Swim Club Part Time Coaches
The Blue Devil Swim Club, located in Gurnee, IL is seeking coaches to begin this Fall/Winter season. The Blue Devil Swim Club is a year round club with 120 plus athletes of all swimming skill levels.
Part Time Head Age Group Coach
The qualified candidate will report to the Head Coach and assist with approximately 20 hours of duties per week, which includes workout development and management, office work and swim meets. In the absence of the Head Coach, the Age Group Head Coach will assume the lead role in administering and supervising daily workouts, other assistant coaches, and office work including but not limited to writing daily workouts, team organization & communication, creating meet entries, and website updating.
Applicants must have at least 4 years' age group coaching experience, CPR, First Aid, Safety Training for Swim Coaches. The candidate must have working knowledge of Hytek Team Manager, Meet Manager, Workout Manager and Microsoft Office.
Assistant Age Group Coach
The qualified candidate will report to the Head Coach and assist with approximately 15 hours of duties per week, which will include practices and swim meets.
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years of coaching or teaching swim lessons experience. Qualified candidates should have a strong desire to work with young athletes, along with outstanding communication and teaching skills. Dependability and strong work ethic are a must. Current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Safety Training or the ability to achieve them is required. Pay appropriate to qualifications and experience.
