Child Car Seat Requirement
All parents and guardians of children participating in a Park District trip and/or riding in a Park District vehicle must provide a child restraint system for any child 7 years old or younger, or give us written permission for the child to be transported without such a system. All participants must wear seat belts. For trips using a school bus, there are no restraints for adult or child passengers. This is in compliance with the Illinois Vehicle Code, Child Passenger Protections Act.In order to secure instructors and supplies, all programs require a minimum number of participants 7 days before the class begins.
Maximum/Minimum
A maximum number is also listed to ensure quality instruction. The Gurnee Park District reserves the right to adjust max/min's on programs/events when deemed necessary. Classes may be combined and times modified to facilitate better programs.
Scholarship Program
The Gurnee Park District provides financial assistance/scholarships to residents who are interested in enrolling in a program, but are unable due to financial difficulties. Depending on fund availability, the Park District may provide financial assistance to those who qualify based on eligibility requirements. Those seeking assistance must complete an application and forward it to the Gurnee Park District, at 4374 Old Grand Ave, Gurnee, IL 60031, Attn: Superintendent of Recreation. Scholarship packets can be picked up at both registration offices or it can be downloaded HERE. The Park District reserves the right to approve full or partial assistance or deny an applicant's request. Applications will be reviewed on an individual basis, and notification of a decision will be given within three weeks of the received application. Registrations will not be processed until scholarship applications are approved and the participant's portion is paid. Placement in requested programs is based on class availability at the time the registration is processed.

As the Gurnee Park District has received federal financial assistance in the form of Land Water Conservation assistance, the U.S. Department of the Interior, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age or handicap.

Resident/Nonresident (Res/Nonres)
Facilities and programs are partially subsidized through taxes by resident of the Gurnee Park District. The resident fee is the first one listed. Non-residents pay the second amount listed. When a program is conducted at a school district facility and you reside within that district, you will be charged the resident rate.

The Gurnee Park District is constantly striving to offer quality recreation programs to the public. If you feel our programs did not meet your expectations, due to the quality of instruction, facilities or program content, we will refund your money... 100%. To receive your refund:
1) Attend at least 2 classes and inform us within 48 hours of the second class, and, 2) Complete the 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed form.
Your input on the 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed form is valuable to us as it will help determine where improvement is needed. The form is available at both community centers or it can be downloaded HERE.
The guarantee applies to recreation programs where Park District personnel instruct or supervise an activity. The policy excludes trips, leagues, special events or rentals.
Contractors
In order to provide a wide range of recreational programs, the Gurnee Park District uses contractors as a means of providing experts in a variety of areas. Although we strive to offer top notch programs, there may be times when the contractors do not meet our expectations. In these instances, we hope you will keep us informed of your satisfaction with programs offered. When we use outside contractors for our programs, the class description will reflect that.
Participant Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants.
Additional rules may be developed for particular programs and athletic leagues.
Participants shall:
- Show respect to all participants & staff;
- Refrain from using foul language;
- Refrain from causing bodily harm to other participants or staff; and,
- Show respect while using equipment, supplies and facilities.
Warren Special Recreation Association (WSRA)
WSRA is dedicated to meeting the recreational needs of people with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. Established in 1981, WSRA is located at the Warren Township Center, 17801 W. Washington Street in Gurnee. To meet the needs of people with disabilities who choose to participate in a park district setting, the professional staff at WSRA can assist participants and parents with the inclusion process. Follow registration guidelines and note special needs and/or accommodations so the plan of action can be completed in a timely manner. Special Needs for the Hearing Impaired
The hearing impaired may call Ameritech at 800-526-0844 for assistance in communication with the Park District.
Special Needs for the Visually Impaired
Upon request, printed materials such as the brochure, flyers, bulletin announcements and meeting minutes will be made available on audio cassette or braille within 24 hours.
Americans with Disabilities Act
The Gurnee Park District intends to comply with the intent and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability. If you need any special accommodations, please call the Gurnee Park District so we can make the necessary arrangements.
Photo Policy
Frequently, Park District staff may videotape or photograph participants enrolled in programs, classes, events or enjoying park facilities. These photographs are for Park District publications, flyers, brochures and future recreation materials or cable programs. All photos and videos taken on Park District property are for Park District use and become its sole property.
Program Refunds
General program fee refunds, less a service charge of 20% (not to exceed 5%) will be made if a request is received at least seven days before the start of the program. After that, refunds can only be given for medical reasons, and will be prorated. When the Park District reschedules or cancels programs due to insufficient registration, full refunds will be given. Refund checks will be mailed with 14 days of the request. If registrations were paid by credit card, the charge account will be credited.
League refund requests are due at least seven days before the fee payment deadline.
Growing Tree Preschool registration and tuition fees are non-refundable.
Summer Camp refunds will be processed up to two weeks prior to the start of camp. A service charge of $50 per session per child will be assessed for Full and Half Day Camps. A service charge of $30 per session per child will be assessed for 2 and 3-day Early Childhood Explorer camps. A $5.00 charge will be assessed on all Enrichment, Specialty and Mini Camps. Camp service charges cannot be transferred. No refund will be issued if requested less than two weeks prior to the camp start date.
Returned Check Charge
Any check that is deposited and returned by the bank for any reason will result in an additional $10 charge.
