Aquatic Center Rules

  • Obey lifeguards at all times.KidsatPool
  • At all times, children age 12 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult (16 years and/or older).
  • Parents must remain within an arms length of small children, at all times.
  • Proper bathing suit attire required. No street clothes, cutoffs, shoes or diapers allowed.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers and/or tight fitting plastic pant over the diaper.
  • Inflatable personal flotation devices are not allowed in the main pool.
  • Flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard Seal approved.
  • All patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. When a person's safety is jeopardized, staff has the right to take disciplinary action.
  • Profane or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
  • Squirt guns, sharp plastic toys and dive sticks are not allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • Lifeguards and Attendants reserve the right to request any person take a swim test before entering the diving well.
  • Running, boisterous/rough play, and chicken fighting is not allowed
  • Hanging on lane lines is prohibited.
  • Eating, drinking and gum chewing is only allowed in the concessions area.
  • Glass and alcohol are prohibited.
  • Smoking is not allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • Pets are not allowed in the Aquatic Center.
  • Individuals who are prone to seizures should notify the Manager each visit. If possible any patron who needs immediate first aid assistance should notify the nearest lifeguard.
  • The public address system is for official use only. Absolutely no paging.
  • The Gurnee Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • The Gurnee Park District reserves the right to revoke season pool passes or suspend daily admission of individuals for violation of facility rules.
  • The Gurnee Park District Reserves the right to reduce pool operations or close the pool due to inclement weather and low attendance.
  • Masks, snorkels, and fins are not allowed.
  • The Gurnee Park District reserves the right to amend these rules or create new ones as necessary.

Flume, Tube, & Speed Slides:

  • Patrons must be at least 42 inches tall to use the water slides.
  • The slide attendant or lifeguard may ask any individual take a swim test before using the slide.
  • Wait for the attendant to signal before going down the slide.
  • Exit the pool immediately after the ride.
  • Enter and exit the slide feet first and on your back.
  • Stopping and standing on the slide is prohibited.
  • Metal objects, including keys, rings that are not wedding rings, earrings that hang, glasses and goggles, are not allowed while using the slide.
  • Prescription glasses and goggles with strap are allowed prior to Managers approval.
  • Yarn or string bracelets and anklets are allowed.
  • Participants will not be allowed to wear anything around their neck.
  • Aqua – Shoes or Aqua – Socks are not allowed.
  • Tandem or chain riding is not allowed.

Drop Slide:Goggles

  • The slide attendant or lifeguard may ask any individual take a swim test before using the slide.
  • Wait for the attendant to signal before going down the slide.
  • Exit the pool immediately after the ride.
  • Enter and exit the slide feet first and on your back.
  • Stopping and standing on the slide is prohibited.
  • Aqua – Shoes or Aqua – Socks are not allowed.
  • Metal objects, including keys, rings that are not wedding rings, earrings that hang, glasses and goggles, are not allowed while using the slide.
  • Tandem or chain riding is not allowed.
  • Prescription glasses and goggles with strap are allowed prior to Managers approval.
  • Patrons must be at least 48 inches tall to use the drop slides.
  • Yarn or string bracelets and anklets are allowed.
  • Participants will not be allowed to wear anything around their necks
  • Individuals using the slide on the right must swim right when exiting pool, and individuals using the slide on the left must swim left when exiting the pool.

Salamander Slide:

  • No children over the age of 8 years old or over 80 pounds will be allowed down this slide.
  • Wait for the attendant to signal before going down the slide.
  • Exit the pool immediately after the ride.
  • Enter and exit the slide feet first and on your back.
  • Stopping and standing on the slide is prohibited.
  • Aqua – Shoes or Aqua – Socks are not allowed.
  • Metal objects, including keys, rings that are not wedding rings, earrings that hang, glasses and goggles, are not allowed while using the slide.
  • Prescription glasses and goggles with strap are allowed prior to Managers approval.
  • Yarn or string bracelets and anklets are allowed.
  • Participants will not be allowed to wear anything around their necks

Toddler Slide and Zero Depth Pool Area:

  • Children under 8 years must be accompanied by parent at all times.

  • Flotation devices must be U.S. Coast Guard Seal approved.
  • Obey lifeguards at all times.
  • Eating, drinking and gum chewing are only allowed in the concessions area.

Sand Volleyball Area:

  • Please wash all sand off before exiting area.
  • No throwing sand.
  • No hanging on the net.
  • Profane or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
  • All patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. When a person's safety is jeopardized, staff has the right to take disciplinary action.
  • Eating, drinking and gum chewing are only allowed in the concessions area.
  • No sand castles or digging of holes.

Sand Play Area:

  • Please wash all sand off before exiting area.
  • Profane or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
  • No rough housing, running or boisterous play.
  • All patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. When a person's safety is jeopardized, staff has the right to take disciplinary action.
  • Eating, drinking and gum chewing are only allowed in the concessions area.

Sun Turf:

  • Profane or offensive language is strictly prohibited.
  • All patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and appropriate manner at all times. When a person's safety is jeopardized, staff has the right to take disciplinary action.
  • Running, boisterous play, and rough housing is prohibited.
