CUSTOMER SERVICE
The Gurnee Park District has 2 part time openings in our Customer Service Department

Hours are:
   5:15 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday and Friday and 12pm to 5pm on Sunday
   5:15 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday and 12pm to 7pm on Saturday

MUST ALSO HAVE FLEXIBILITY TO WORK HOLIDAYS AND TO FILL IN DURING THE DAY.  THESE ARE YEAR ROUND POSITIONS. SHORT TERM APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY.

These positions include greeting customers, processing passes and registrations on the computer, and various other office duties that may arise. Must possess the ability to consistently communicate in a friendly fashion with employees and patrons both in person and on the telephone. Must consistently demonstrate good public relations and tact. Patience is also a character trait which must be demonstrated in a continuous manner when working with the public. Proficiency in typing (50wpm) is required. Knowledge of business machines and computer data entry experience is also required.

High school degree with at least two years of experience in an office environment.

Diving Instructor  
The Gurnee Park District is seeking an individual at least 16 years of age with springboard diving experience to lead our instructional diving classes.  Applicants must be able to work Wednesday nights during the school year from 8-9pm.  Other instructional opportunities available as well.  Please fill out an application for "Diving Instructor" or contact Scott Crowe, Aquatic Manager at (847) 599-3753 for more information.

Personal Trainer
Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be certified through a nationally accredited association such as A.C.E., A.C.S.M., N.A.S.M., A.F.A.A., I.F.P.A., etc.
  • Candidate must be able to train clients ranging in abilities and instruct safe physical principles and techniques.
  • Must have the ability to be creative and use the resources at your disposal.
  • Must be willing to comply with the Fitness Supervisor and Gurnee Park District’s rules, regulations, and mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
  • Must be willing to communicate with clients on their own time w/i 24 hour notice.
  • Must have internet access and check email daily. Email is the primary form of communication.
  • Must be flexible and accommodating to a relaxed family-orientated facility.
  • Must have good communication and leadership skills.
  • Applicant should also possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ideal candidate will have flexible hours, variety of experiences and the ability to teach at different ability levels.

Duties

  • Promote yourself to obtain personal training clients.
  • Develop stable clientele.
  • Maintain your own schedule and commit to all appointments. Rescheduling and cancellations will only be tolerated in emergencies.
  • Organize all records and paperwork in a manner that can be easily understood by Fitness Supervisor.
  • Comply with all Payroll procedures.
  • Communicate with all clients and verify that clients have paid for all sessions prior to use.
  • Must work shifts as Fitness Attendant as needed.
  • Must attend staff trainings, orientations and meetings.

Pay Range
$22.00- $30.00 per hour training session (Fitness Attendant wages $7.25 - $12.00)

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Enhance your life while helping others at the Gurnee Park District.  Those who are 12 years and older are encouraged to get involved by volunteering for programs or special events.  Volunteers are essential to the success of our programs.  Linda Brogren is the Park District Volunteer Coordinator. Special Events Assistants...Rebecca Korzyniewski needs volunteers to serve in many capacities during special events.  You may volunteer to decorate, help with food preparation, assist with crafts, and games or welcome people at the door  Please call Linda Brogren at 599-3755..

Athletic Coaches...Be a role model for the youth in our community by volunteering to coach a team for the Gurnee Park District.  Experience in the sport is not necessary.   We will provide sport specific training to set you and your team up for success.  Please call Matthew Vanderkamp at 599-3752 if you are interested in coaching any of our sports programs.
