The Farmer's Market 2008 is co-sponsored by GURNEE PARK DISTRICT BUILDING NEW EXCITING PLAYGROUND IN O'PLAINE PARK The main part of the new design encompasses “the Edge” from Kompan. This exciting equipment changes the rules on the playground by allowing kids to safely seek the limits of their own capability. The design was inspired by children’s natural instincts to play on every part of a playground. Children can climb around the entire structure without ever touching the ground. With all the possibilities, the routes kids can take are unlimited. Another new addition to O’Plaine Park will be the Mobius™ climber from Landscape Structures, which will bring a whole new dimension to the park. This climber is like a rock climbing wall with a twist. Metallic panels turn, wave and bend with handholds that are easy to grip at all angles for added safety. “We are very excited about this playground since it is substantially different from all our other traditional playgrounds,” added Susie Kuruvilla, Executive Director. “We are taking this opportunity to introduce a new concept in playground equipment, which is at the cutting edge.” The Gurnee Park District will also be purchasing new swings for the site. Work on the new playground will begin in August with an approximate completion date of November.
