FitNation Members can sign up with a personal trainer to help meet their fitness goals with more efficiency either individually or as a small group. Our nationally certified personal trainers will help you develop a detailed program based on your goals. They’ll keep you motivated and focused, whether your goal is to lose weight, increase strength, improve endurance, train for an event or just have more energy to do the things you love! Tammy is an ACE and PTA Global certified Personal Trainer as well as a certified Balanced Body Pilates Trainer in Mat, Reformer Training and Barre. She is also certified with Schwinn Cycling and as an AFAA Group Fitness instructor. She has 23 years of experience in the fitness industry. Tammy has a patience and understanding for participants that are new to exercise along with participants that are just starting to exercise again after an injury. She specializes in working with post rehab clients, core training, flexibility, weight loss, functional training, and balance work. Fitness is a big part of her life, her whole family is involved in fitness; she works out with both her daughter and her son and her husband also works in the fitness industry. She is currently attending the University Of Wisconsin-Parkside, to finish her Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.
Jön holds his B.A. in Exercise Science, is NASM Certified Personal Trainer and IDEA certified Group Fitness Instructor. He believes that personal fitness is specific to each individual. Not all diets and programs work for everyone. As being a person who has always struggled himself, he has personal experience in finding what will work for you in reaching your goals. Jön is our resident expert in the area of rehabilitation, he has been working with our nations finest at Great Lakes Naval Base for the past 7 years. If you are coming off of physical therapy or in need some specialized training for a specific body part, he is the trainer for you. Jön is well versed in working with all clientele, and has experience with young to old and can work with you to reach your goals no matter what your circumstances are. When he’s not working Jön enjoys continuing his fitness education, spending time with his wife, three sons and daughter.
Joe is a NCSF certified personal trainer that has had a passion for fitness his whole life. Competing in many different sports he understands fitness takes on many forms. He specializes in functional training, suspension training, bodyweight training, and kettle bells. As a personal trainer and military member he understands the importance of physical readiness in our daily lives, and will motivate you to reach your fitness goals. He also has a BS in Business Administration from Robert Morris College and is perusing a sports nutrition certification.
Randi is an ACSM certified Personal Trainer and has also graduated from the College of Lake County's Personal Training course. As a U.S. Army veteran, physical fitness has been a very important part of his life. Much of his motivation to train clients, is the positive feeling a trainer gets when they see a client transform themselves into their best self. Randi's areas of expertise are toning, muscle building, and sports training. He is also finishing up his degree in Health and Wellness Promotion, as well as his Certification in Wellness Coaching. Whether your a novice or an expert in fitness, not only will Randi be patient, but he will enjoy helping you along your journey to look and feel the absolute best that you can.
Jacki is an AFAA certified Personal Trainer and Group fitness Instructor. She is also Schwinn, R.I.P.P.E.D., and Les Mills Bodypump certified. Jacki has been a long time athlete and has activity competed in running, triathlon, and cycling events since 2004. She believes that fitness should never be taken for granted and should remain a lifetime pursuit. Jacki’s fitness approach involves a combination of strength and cardiovascular exercises. She will safely motivate and inspire you to attain your fitness goals. When she is not teaching group exercise classes or personal training, she enjoys being the biggest fan of her three active kids.
Erica is a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine as well as a certified Zumba®, Flirty Girl®, TRX®, PIloxing® and AFAA Group Exercise instructor. She believes fitness is for everyone and an important part of a balanced lifestyle. Erica was involved in dance and sports from a young age. She earned a BFA from The Illinois Institute of Art – Chicago in Graphic Design. She found a new passion in fitness about five years ago and loves to share the knowledge she has gained.
Donna is an energetic Certified Fitness and Personal Trainer with a strong background in Athletic Sports Performance Training focusing on strength endurance, speed, agility, quickness, power and explosive training. She's an NASM Certified Personal Trainer as well as an NASM Youth Exercise Specialist. Her background in Sports Performance Training goes back to when she was a standout Track and Field Collegiate athlete, who specialized in hurdles and competed in the heptathlon. Donna is highly motivated to help others reach their health and fitness goals and promotes activities and coping methods that transform unhealthy habits and fuel healthy minds and bodies.
Annie Prullage is certified through AFAA, now NASM, as a personal trainer and a fitness instructor in Pilates and yoga. Being involved in sports, inspired me to take it to the next level and share my passion to inspire others. My specialties include strengthening, flexibility and increasing core strength making my clients more stable and mobile. Using hand weights, body resistance, resistance bands, and TRX are some of her training techniques. Researching new ideas and creating new exercises that are specific to my clients’ needs are part of her growth in fitness. Training today’s youth to excel in their sports to be better, stronger and more mobile athletes. She also has her BA in Education from St. Mary’s College in Minnesota and has taught in the classroom for many years.
Kerry is an ACSM certified Personal Trainer and Wellness Coach with a degree in Health and Wellness from the College of Lake County. She enjoys working with her clients to find a workout routine that is effective and enjoyable. She frequently incorporates strength, cardiovascular and flexibility activities into her training to help clients meet their goals. As a busy mom, she values every opportunity to incorporate exercise into the day and strives to offer training that is efficient and easy to achieve despite her clients’ varied time commitments. Kerry believes that fitness and health is a lifelong commitment and she continue to take courses that will help her to be a better trainer and motivator.
Mary is an ACE-certified Personal Trainer and Health Coach, as well as a Mad Dogg certified Spin/cycling instructor. Her areas of specialty are strength & core training with an emphasis on endurance sports, specifically long distance running. Mary herself is an avid runner and has completed three marathons, and participates in road races on a regular basis. In that vein, she doesn’t mind joining clients on the track/treadmill for long runs or shorter sprints. Her motto is that exercise can be fun and doesn’t have to feel like a chore and that sometimes a friendly voice saying ‘you can do it’ can make all the difference. Clients’ workouts are varied and dynamic, often interspersing bursts of cardio with strength training circuits.
Scott is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and have his B.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Playing in sports for most of his life, he fully understand the functionality and movements needed to perform at a high level and can translate these ideas into strengthening the elder population for Activities of Daily Living. Scott loves working with athletes and anybody who wants to reach their fitness goals through hard work and determination. He believes that everybody has different fitness needs and goals and by receiving unique, personalized training. Scott’s expertise is athletic and functional training, with an emphasis in strength and conditioning. His goal is to help anyone, from a fitness beginner to a seasoned athlete, reach their goals and prepare for a happier and healthier future.
Rachel is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and holds a B.S in Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Her areas of specialty include strength and conditioning, circuit and interval training, functional training, and working with clients following discharge from physical therapy. As a former collegiate basketball player and high school coach, Rachel’ s experiences have allowed her to find unique ways to train and motivate clients from all walks of life- from the elite athlete to the beginning exerciser. Rachel currently also works for United Hospital System’s Physical Therapy Department where she heads an AfterCare program and instructs a Parkinson’s Wellness Recovery (PWR!) program for patients with the disease and other neurological disorders. Her training philosophy incorporates the “work smarter, not harder” motto and she believes personal training should always be fun and tailored to the specific needs/goals of a client.
SPECIALIZED GROUP TRAINING
FitNation offers a wide variety of group training classes to increase your physical fitness regimen. These programs build on skills learned each week to advance and improve workouts and are different then normal group exercise classes. With defined start and end dates these programs are a great way to commit to a workout program.
Due to the learning and skill building nature of these classes, specialized group training programs are customized to the group enrolled in the program and require a fee separate from the monthly dues. With each class you will have the chance to interact with the instructor and get one on one training tips.
PLEASE NOTE: All specialized group training classes require pre-registration. Some classes require registration two weeks before class time while others have prorated costs if joining in the middle of a program. Please see the front desk for information.
Registration for these classes is handled through the registration system of Gurnee Park District. To sign up for one of these classes you can follow the registration links below. If you are new to the system you will be prompted to create a new household.
Training for Children
FitNation offers specialized fitness classes for children ages 14 and under. Children can also work with personal trainers.
This class will guide you through a series or exercises that will help increase mobility and flexibility. Each class includes a warm-up, stretching, strength exercises, some cardio and a cool-down to help relieve the muscles. Participation is not restricted to those with arthritis, but to anyone looking for a great new workout in their senior years. Instructed by Dianne Daluga, Certified Arthritis Foundation Instructor.
