Gurnee Park District lifeguards have consistently earned the Ellis & Associates “Platinum International Safety Award” for excellence in aquatic safety and service that only the top 10% of agencies in the world earn.  In any aquatic environment, safety is important and at the Gurnee Park District you will find the safety of our guests is our highest priority.

Licensed Lifeguards

Gurnee Park District lifeguards are licensed by Jeff Ellis & Associates, the premier lifeguard licensing body in the world. Our goal is to provide a safe, customer-friendly aquatic environment for all.  Five independent and unannounced safety audits are performed with lifeguard staff and management annually to ensure that we are meeting the highest safety standards.  Routine in-house training and auditing are also performed.

Blue Devil Swim Club (BDSC)

BDSC is an affiliate of the Gurnee Park District. Swimmers must be between 6 and 19 years old and must be able to swim both freestyle (with rhythmic breathing) and backstroke one length of the pool without stopping.  Daily year-round practice emphasizes stroke mechanics, starts, turns, training and nutrition. Drop-In Swimming Activities

The Gurnee Park District offers a wide range of Drop-In Swimming activities at all of our pools.  Drop-In Activities include:  Open Swim, Lap Swim, Active Adult Swim, Toddler Open Swim, Family Swim, and Aquatic Fitness Classes.  Pick up our monthly calendar or view it on the web for a detailed list of monthly offerings.  Indoor Pool Passes are valid for all Drop-in Activities except Aquatic Fitness.
